On the horizon
Listed below are some projects the UR Web Team and/or Web Services are working on that might affect your future site plans.
- In Spring 2012, we plan to launch a centralized syndicatable News system allowing you to submit your article (without knowing HTML) and automatically display those postings on your News page and, if desired, a news widget on your homepage.
- Work on the new Campus Buildings Directory is almost finished, and will roll out with a widget that allows you to pull a single building's information into your site as either a pop-up link or a small "baseball card" content box.
- The online Academic Catalog now includes both graduate and undergraduate content. Eventually, we hope to allow you to easily pull (aka "syndicate") content chunks from the catalog into your site. That syndicated content (thus your site) will automatically be updated with each annual catalog update, and all the catalog content will always be official.
- Academic brochures started going online one-by-one in July 2010. They'll replace the PDFs currently listed on the Brochures tab. Eventually, you will be able to syndicate all of their content, but for now, you can use the Photos and Brag Points widget, or create a pop-up link using the Brochure Link widget.
- We're hoping to redesign and re-code the Interactive Campus Map in 2012.
- RGS, led by Steve Warren, is working on a vendor solution to a faculty bio/research database, possibly by 2012. Contact your dean or Steve for more details.
